I think his writing style creates a very recognizable atmosphere that makes you immediately feel like you're in his world no matter which of his books you pick up. He's one of those authors whose books all feel kind of the same in both the good and the bad sense. If you like his 'entrancing' style you can count on pretty much every book delivering, paired with the stuff you mentioned like comedy, introspection, a mystery aspect to keep you hooked, a touch of the surreal (sometimes more, sometimes less), often multiple perspectives etc...
But it also feels like in terms of substance he doesn't have much to offer beyond this one formula, at least in the books I read. Of course he approaches the formula from different angles, but at the core they tend to use very similar methods to keep the reader interested and even the introspections tend to center around the same topics with only some degree of variation.
Yeah, I can agree with this. A friend of mine who is also a huge Murakami fan (she reads a good amount of weeb lit) says things that are pretty similar about his writing/atmosphere/entrancing abilities.

Yes, I've known some. I also have a friend who's in the Navy. I think he's supposed to be a medic on some aircraft carrier. I also have another friend who will also eventually be working on a nuclear submarine.

How do you find Wright's prose?

The best prose in the book virtually all comes from the Marines, though Weight also has his moments:

A few hours before the invasion, Encino Man had covered over the side windows of his command vehicle with duct tape. He believed this would mask light seeping out from a computer screen in his vehicle, making it "extratactical"—harder to spot by enemy forces. Unfortunately, the covered windows seem to have diminished his already feeble navigation abilities.

Oh since we were on the topic of prose last night, friends and I made a copypasta from a friend who was writing about his experiences at a concert. We thought it was pretty funny. Can probably do it with this topic:

Evan Wright wrote Generation Kill and it was one of the most grandiose and fulfilling book I have read in my life. He felt like a master calligrapher, drawing the same character, with each stroke varying the speed and thickness, and highlighting the hidden strokes in the prose. A single stroke captured so much.... Simply amazing book, and I'm not going to talk about it anymore since my words cannot do it justice.

Two things.

1) Kev. We've had issues with Kev in previous iterations of this club thread. Some club members lobbied to bring him back for V. 15, feeling that he deserved another chance. That was a mistake. Kev is an ass, and we won't be posting with him again.

2) As long as we're banning people, we are also kicking out all the memers that were posting with in the club. They will be replaced, and we hope to get this turned around before the next thread.

It is a pasta. Friends and I made it up.

Basically, one of our friends was mesmerized by a concert and wrote something that was super copy pasta bait because of how toxic it was, so we took it and this is the result :>
